Introducing ‘Wooden’ Handrails: Metal Wooden Effect For Modern Interiors

At Handrails Direct, our goal is to make it easier to create stylish, practical handrail systems, with plenty of choice for every project. Previously, we introduced our new textured range, redefining what's possible with metal handrails. Now, we welcome our latest 'wooden' effect handrails, which are metal handrails but heat-transferred with a wood-effect finish, changing what's possible for the classic wooden handrail. In this blog, we explore the 5 new finishes in more details and look at what's coming soon to Handrails Direct...

Take a look at our recent blogs highlighting our new colour range:

What Is The 'Wooden' Effect:

A wooden-effect handrail is essentially a normal steel handrail with a wooden effect over the top. The middle is hollow, not like a generic solid wooden handrail. This is so you can still have the wooden handrail appeal without the wooden handrail upkeep; no sanding or varnishing is needed. The natural wood finish is applied using a heat transfer process, creating a realistic wood grain surface with a consistent look along the length of the pole.

Wroxall Ebony:

Wroxall Ebony is dark, bold and modern. It brings a deep wood effect to staircases, landings, and hallways. Its rich, ebony tone creates strong contrast against lighter walls, while still giving you the strength and practicality of a metal handrail. We suggest incorporating the finish in spaces that already have dark decor but also have light walls; this contrast will match well, especially if you already have ebony tones throughout your space.

What bracket we suggest matching it with:

  • Radway Chrome
  • Sambourne Antique Copper

Packwood Light Oak:

Opposite to Wroxall Ebony, Packwood Light Oak is light, soft and contemporary. It brings the natural look of light oak into a space, and whether you're starting from scratch or adding to an existing setup, the oak aspect will make your space feel soft and bright. We suggest installing this into a space that's already very light with neutral tones. The Packwood Light Oak adds a subtle timber effect to the space without making the overall look feel washed out.

What bracket we suggest matching it with:

  • Loxley Antique Brass
  • Luddington Textured Grey

Arden Natural Pine:

Next up is the lightest of our wooden effect range, Arden Natural Pine. This creates a natural, light and timeless look. This finish is a gorgeous option for a space already filled with some wooden elements; the lightness of the pine means it doesn't compare with other wooden elements, creating a stunning blend.

What bracket we suggest matching it with:

  • Edstone Matt White
  • Radway Chrome

Ryton Teak:

Ryton Teak is the classic wooden handrail look. Light wooden effect, almost passing as an offish-grey colour, it creates a timeless look. This handrail suits grey wooden accents or darker interior spaces looking to add some lighter elements but still wanting to keep with the wooden theme.

What bracket we suggest matching it with:

  • Kineton Matt Black
  • Edstone Matt White

Oversley Walnut:

And finally, meet Oversley Walnut, a gorgeous brown wooden finish that looks like realistic wood. Rich, classic and full of character, the finish gives a beautiful warm walnut look to your space. Perfect with deep colour tones, the boldness of the walnut colour matches great with blues, whites, blacks and more.

What bracket we suggest matching it with:

  • Loxley Antique Brass
  • Harbury Brushed Silver
