Handrail Systems Explained: What’s in the Box & How it all Fits Together

Let's be honest, understanding what makes up a handrail system is essential before you even open the box. How are you expecting to install your handrail if you don't even know what's included in your order? From the actual rail to the screws, components, and accessories, we understand that it can feel overwhelming. But we're here to help. We've compiled EVERYTHING that's available in each handrail kit into this blog to help explain how it all fits together. Let's get started!

What's Included In The Kit?

All our stair types are available in kits, which saves you a significant amount of time. In fact, it saves you hours of sourcing individual pieces from across our website and ensures all your components are the same colour and aesthetically pleasing - the most important part, obviously.

Understanding Terminology:

Unsure what a specific component in your handrail kit is? No problem! We've left the definitions below:

  • Handrail Poles - The long part of your handrail, the part you hold onto when going up and down the stairs.
  • Support / Wall Brackets - These hold everything together. The bracket securely holds your bracket and keeps it firmly attached near the wall.
  • Connecting Brackets - These allow you to extend the handrail. 2 handrails can fit inside this to look like one, super-long, sleek handrail.
  • Adjustable Elbows - Allows your handrail to turn corners at different angles.
  • End Caps - Quite self-explanatory, these go at the end of your handrail, capping it off to close off exposed ends.

Further Facts We Thought You'd Like To Know:

Our fitting instructions aren't physically booklets (unless you print them off yourself). A QR code is available with your order, where you can scan for instructions on installing your handrail system.

We also have a Fitting Instructions page on our website.

A cordless drill, spirit level, measuring tape, Phillips screwdriver, pencil and 8mm drill bit (for the wall plugs) are necessary for installation.

We also recommend installing using laser levers and chalk lines if you're more professional.

All appropriate fixings are available with each kit and are included in the box.

Build Your Own:

On another note, we've got a Build Your Own section on the website for the creatives among you, where you can have more flexibility with your order. Mix and match components to suit your space. All individual components are available in this section of our website.
